About this Event
A year before the Declaration of Independence, while the Thirteen Colonies were still technically part of the British Empire, troops from New York and New England invaded Canada. Their primary leader was General Richard Montgomery, a resident of Rhinebeck and relation by marriage to the powerful Livingston Family. Join Dutchess County Historian Will Tatum to learn about Dutchess County's role in this invasion, the intention behind this overt military action, and the ultimate fate of the men who surged north to bring the Revolution to Canada in 1775.
