For centuries, vampires have stalked our dreams and nightmares. From myth, folklore and history; through Polidori, Stoker, Nosferatu, Hammer Horror, King and Rice; onto Buffy, Twilight and beyond - vampires continue to entice, enthral and terrify. They have become the world’s most enduring and influential horror genre straddling film, television, literature, theatre, games, music and more.
The International Vampire Film and Arts Festival (IVFAF) - aka Vampfest - brings together vampire creatives and fans from across the world in one cross-industry and cross-media event – an intense three-day programme of film screenings, an academic conference, performing arts, book readings, music, Q&As, seminars, workshops, games, networking events and lots of parties (including, of course, an epic Hallowe’en party where you can really vamp it up…).
And where else to hold this unique event but in Transylvania - within the walls of the dramatic medieval citadel of Sighisoara, the birthplace of the real Vlad Dracula?
Sighisoara is the perfect location: it has stunning gothic architecture; superb hotels and venues all a short stroll away between dozens of excellent (and very reasonably-priced!) bars and restaurants, with winding cobbled lanes and spooky covered steps leading to the bat-infested church and the very ‘Transylvanian’ and eerie graveyard.
In 2025 we’re combining our event and this perfect location with the time of the year when the skein between life and death - and undeath - is thinnest: Hallowe’en.
There is a strict limit of 250 places available for the 7th festival, and we’ve already blocked out loads of hotel rooms in the town so we can guarantee you’ll be staying somewhere that’s within a short stroll of all of our events. This is a bucket-list opportunity for fans of vampires and gothic horror and it might even be a chance for you to show off that film you made/ story or script you wrote/ piece of research you’ve been working on.
