Event Description:

A pop-up installation and lecture organized by the Greater Miami Bureau of Time Tourism, an experimental Miami history department. Malcolm Lauredo, South Florida historian and Bureau department head will be discussing pre-historic Miami - from Pangea to the bottom of the sea and right through the Ice Age. Installations by Kayla DeLacerda and Siera Grace (AKA Lush Suburb), 16mm screenings by Strange Pursuits and music by the Imbicile. Sponsored by Knight Foundation and Bakehouse Art Complex.


About the Lecturer:

Malcolm Lauredo is a Miami-based historian, curator, researcher and artist. His lecture series, "A History of Miami" is an immersive presentation, complete with animations, soundscapes and an original score. He served as the director of the historic research department at Coral Gables Museum, an exhibition designer for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, a research fellow at Vizcaya Museum and Bakehouse Art Complex, a historical consultant for Florida International University’s Institute of Environment and a published writer. Most recently, Lauredo received a "Digital History as Art" grant from the Knight Foundation to support his practice over the next two years. Lauredo currently maintains a studio for his history practice at Bakehouse art complex.
