Many people studying the Tarot focus on the meaning of individual cards separately. The Inner Structure of the Tarot, which includes two two-hour discussions and hands-on work with the Tarot, offers a way to structure the cards based on the teachings of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Here, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life serves as a framework to understand the meaning of the Tarot.We’ll introduce the Tree of Life: ten spheres and their interconnections, which symbolize the relationship between spirit and matter. Then, we’ll relate the Minor Arcana and the Court Cards to the spheres, letting the meaning of each sphere illuminate and structure each card within the whole.
The Tree of Life has twenty-two paths which connect the spheres. Each Major Arcanum corresponds to a single path. We’ll explore each Major Arcanum through the paths within the Tree.
Prerequisites: None, though some familiarity with Tarot is helpful, especially experience with the Rider-Waite or Thoth decks.
