THE INFRASTRUCTURAL PRACTICES AND POLITICS OF DIGITALISING EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION
Date: 15th of August 2024
Location: IT University of Copenhagen
NB: Exact timeplan and program TBD

You are invited to a forum that will investigate the implication of new digital approaches to emergency communication in the Nordic welfare states. Together, participants of the forum will untangle how the digitalisation of infrastructures for public warnings can be understood not just as technological modernization, but as inherently political processes.

We - the Digital Emergency Communication (DIGeMERGE) project and the Center for Digital Welfare (CDW), would therefore like to invite you – researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders to discuss the infrastructural, institutional, and relational outcomes of these processes, and how they contribute to social and cultural change in the Nordic countries.

Organisers

DIGeMERGE studies the use of digital communication platforms and tools in four highly digitalized European countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. DIGeMERGE is funded by the Collaboration of Humanities and Social Sciences in Europe (CHANSE), co-funded by Horizon 2020.

The CDW aims to describe and rethink what it means to govern and live in a digitalized welfare society. Researchers at the CDW inquire about the impacts and the consequences of digitalization for welfare. This event falls within one of the three strategic themes of the center, i.e. the theme ‘Global comparisons and collaborations in digital welfare’.
