The Durham Alumni Chapter of North Carolina Agricultural & State University (NC A&T), a 501(c)(3) organization, is seeking the support of the Business and Community Leaders to help provide financial assistance to future local students who will be attending NC A&T. Funds raised at our event will contribute to these two important causes: Carl D Hodges, Sr. Memorial Endowment Fund: This newly created endowment honors Carl Sr., who passed away in 2020. Once fully funded, this scholarship will support students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 from Durham, Cumberland, or Northampton counties in North Carolina.
Carl Sr., was a distinguished alumnus of A&T, graduating with honors in 1954 with a B.S. in Agricultural Education. He went on to dedicate 35 years of service to the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service; ultimately serving as NC’s (and the nation’s) first Black County Director. He was an active member of the Durham Alumni Chapter and other community organizations. He established a legacy of Aggie Pride that has continued to flow in his family from generation to generation.
Scholarship Fund for the Durham Alumni Chapter: The Durham Alumni Chapter awards scholarships to students in the Durham area, furthering our commitment to supporting local education and empowering the next generation of leaders.
