The Impact of Transit-Oriented Development in Urban Planning: The Change of South Florida Tri-Rail Corridor
Tri-Rail has been part of the South Florida transportation ecosystem since 1989, servicing millions of passengers annually. Since its inception, Tri-Rail has been a key infrastructure component, and today we can witness its transformational impacts. When concepts and policies such as Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Mixed-Use Development (MUD) surged during the late 1990s as solutions to urban sprawl, South Florida embraced them and created impressive projects. Today, we have the opportunity to experience traveling on Tri-Rail to one of the most iconic MUD projects, Mizner Park! We will learn about the lessons learned from these efforts and projects.
