The Ides of March will be a 700 point tournament using the New Edition of MESBG and does qualify as a GPML event. This tournament is also an opportunity for those braving the cold north to hone their skills for Adepticon. However, we should continue doing what we do best: playing fun and friendly games.
Game Cafe is located at 107 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64050-3705. Across from the Jackson County House. Parking should not be an issue when you arrive Saturday morning. Plenty of eating establishments within walking distance on the square. Game Cafe does have a nice collection of GW MESBG miniatures and books for sale.
The Tournament
There is a $10.00 entry fee payable to Game Cafe to be used as prize support in the form of a Game Cafe Gift Card. The tournament will have 3 two-hour rounds. Once the time limit has expired for a game, players must finish the turn they are on. If players reach the End Phase with 5 minutes or less to spare they may NOT begin another turn. Dice Down will be declared at 10 minutes past the expiration of the time limit.
Army Composition: Players must bring one 700 point force of Good or Evil models. Scenarios will be randomly chosen from the six available in the current rules. We reserve the right to alter this if the new Match Play Guide becomes available.
Awards:
First Place (1st place award)

Army lists for the Middle-earth Tournament events must be submitted to Duane Fleck no later than 11:59 PM CST March 12th, 2024. Lists should include the name of the list you are bringing from either The Armies of the Lord of the Rings and the War of the Rohirrim or the Armies of the Hobbit books. For example, The Muster of Isengard.
With anything new, questions about the rules are expected. Players should first consult the rule book before bringing questions to the Tournament Organizer (TO). Both players must agree before the game begins on any ambiguous terrain features (ie. if a particular feature is difficult terrain, if a terrain feature can be climbed, or if a gap is large enough for a model to fit through). Players may not move or alter the terrain. If a player feels a table is unfair or unplayable please consult the TO. Once a question is brought to the TO, all rulings are final.
Proxies and Conversions
We highly encourage you to use the correct Games Workshop or Forge World miniatures for all models in your force. The use of proxies and conversions are permitted as long as the non-GW miniature(s) are similar in size and aesthetics to the actual model produced by Games Workshop or Forge World. WYSIWYG is highly encouraged. If you are unsure on a particular model, please contact Duane Fleck. Painted miniatures are also encouraged but not required.
