FILMLEÍRÁS
A 15 éves Jeanne megszökik az árvaházból. Egy filmstúdióban talál menedéket, ahol Andersen A Hókirálynő című meséjének adaptációját forgatják. A titokzatos és kiismerhetetlen Hókirálynőt játszó Cristina (Marion Cotillard) magával ragadja a lányt, kettejük közt kölcsönös vonzalom és veszélyes bizalom szövődik. Lucile Hadzihalilovic filmjében a valóság és a fikció összemosódik, az eredmény pedig egyszerre éteri, és hátborzongatóan hipnotikus.

A BIFF „Echoes” szekciója az idei év kiemelkedő filmjeit vonultatja fel – olyan műveket, amelyek a világ rangos fesztiváljain a közönséget és a zsűrit egyaránt lenyűgözték. A válogatás olyan nemzetközileg elismert alkotók munkáit mutatja be, akik meghatározóak a kortárs filmkultúra formálásában, és párbeszédet kezdeményeznek változatos és sokszínű művészeti hagyományok között.
RENDEZŐRŐL
Lucile Hadžihalilović Marokkóban született, majd Párizsban tanult művészettörténetet és filmet. Az 1990-es évek elején Gaspar Noéval közösen alapította a Les Cinémas de la Zone produkciós céget, és dolgozott vele a Carne, a Seul contre tous és az Enter the Void filmeken is. 1996-ban készítette első nagyobb munkáját, a La Bouche de Jean-Pierre (Mimi) című filmet, ami a cannes-i Un Certain Regard szekcióban szerepelt. 2004-es első nagyjátékfilmje, az Innocence elnyerte a Legjobb Új Rendező díját a San Sebastian-i Filmfesztiválon. 2015-ben az Evolution című filmje a Torontói Nemzetközi Filmfesztiválon mutatkozott be, majd két díjat is nyert San Sebastianban. Negyedik nagyjátékfilmje, az The Ice Tower premierje a 2025-ös Berlinale versenyprogramjában volt.

DESCRIPTION
Fifteen-year-old Jeanne runs away from the orphanage and finds refuge in a film studio, where an adaptation of Andersen’s The Snow Queen is being shot. Cristina (Marion Cotillard), the mysterious and inscrutable Snow Queen, captivates the girl, and a mutual attraction and dangerous trust develop between them. In Lucile Hadzihalilovic’s film, reality and fiction blur, resulting in a work that is at once ethereal and hauntingly hypnotic.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Lucile Hadžihalilović was born in Morocco and later studied art history and film in Paris. In the early 1990s, she co-founded the production company Les Cinémas de la Zone with Gaspar Noé, collaborating with him on Carne, Seul contre tous, and Enter the Void. In 1996, she made her first major work, La Bouche de Jean-Pierre (Mimi), which screened in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. Her feature debut, Innocence (2004), won the Best New Director award at the San Sebastián Film Festival. In 2015, she released Evolution, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won two awards at San Sebastián. Her fourth feature, The Ice Tower, co-written with Geoff Cox, premiered in the competition at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival.
