The Huni Kuin

On the 29th of June 2022 three of the Huni Kuin Spiritual leaders (Pajes) from the Novo Futuro village (located in the Humaitá River deep in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest) will be at Portico Gallery to share powerful messages for our individual, collective and planetary healing.

Txana Tuwe, Txana Yube and Biruani Siriani will be performing music and prayers and be holding a conversation with local community leader Terroll Lewis.

The recent flooding that hit their region damaged many areas of one of the Huni Kuin villages, Novo Futuro. They have been forced to move and rebuild on higher ground. One of the main buildings they need to relocate and rebuild is the Maloka ceremony space. All profits from this fundraiser event will be be used to support them with this project. this event is to raise awareness and funds for projects in the forest.

This event is an opportunity to spend time with them and learn more about their sacred culture, tradition and ancient knowledge related to indigenous cosmological vision, integral health and spirituality.

They are living in a time of great importance where the mission is to create awareness of their existence and the reality of the threat to theior existence and the reality of the threat to the forest and the sacred medicines . It is by creating alliances with communities in the west and increasing awareness that together we can stand in solidariity with the forest, her people, and help preserve this before it is gone.

The Huni Kuin recieve their knowledge and wisdom over many thousands of years from the forest, the rivers, the plants, the elements, trees and animals. They are the true caretakers & guardians and protectors of the Amazon Rainforest, their medicines & spiritual traditions.

This event will be hosted by Terroll Lewis (creator of Brixton Street Gym) who’s own journey has been impacted by the medicine work of the Huni Kuin. heart of South London and He has forged an incredible community space in the heart of South London. Beyond just physical training, the Gym is a place for the in-person exchange of ideas and perspectives - a particularly important aspect for young people growing up in the area.
