A space to explore our everyday experiences of responding to the question "how are you?"
About this Event

This is a workshop for people with non-visible disabilities, chronic illnesses and long-term health conditions.

Verbatim testimonies will be shared by professional actors, and there will be the opportunity to participate in group exercises and discussions, as well as share your own testimonies!

The How Are You Project is a participatory theatre project that interrogates the everyday question, how are you? - and is a growing community of voices, who believe that with deeper and wider awareness of our experiences, comes greater understanding.

How do we constantly navigate the so many versions of response that there are to that question, or what version we want to give, or the versions that other people want to hear?

Come to listen or share - or both!

The workshop will be facilitated by project creator, Laura Rees. Laura worked for 20 years as an actor with leading roles for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Royal National Theatre, as well as across television, film and radio. She then completed an MA in Applied Theatre at Goldsmiths University and has since been developing her creative practice as a participatory theatre artist. Her work centres on challenging perceptions of non-visible disabilities and illness and this is greatly influenced by her own experience of living with multiple sclerosis.

Access requirements will be supported and a rest space will be provided.
