The days are getting shorter, and so, it seems, is the amount of time between Hoo Has! And so we're back, earlier than usual but in time for spooky season as things take a dark turn with a theme of "the night"!Same rule as usual apply - to be one of our 12 DJs, stick your name down here (no experience necessary, we'll be there to guide you if you've never used a set of decks before). In a couple of weeks, of all of the names in the hat, 12 get drawn, with everyone else as reserves (reserves may be promoted to the 12 at short notice!)
A second draw takes place at 7pm on the night itself to determine time slots. You could be on first at 7:30pm, or headlining at 11:10pm, you won't know until the night (although if you have specific timing considerations we can bend the rules as we appreciate people have travel requirements etc). We do like it if you stick around to support the other DJs though. Also, a reserve may be picked to play a small warmup set while the draw is taking place.
You can play vinyl, CD, or MP3s (if you are to go down this route, please let us know in advance so we can make sure you're accommodated, but please no automatic playlists as it takes the fun out of it). No genres are out of bounds, the only rule is no repeats (covers are allowed though). So bring a few spare tracks with you - if somebody beats you to one of your picks, you're covered.
Also, don't be afraid to sign up if you've not been before, we'll all be on hand to help any newcomers. No snobbery, no egos, no superstar DJs, it's all about having fun and enjoying the music, and having a dance (if you like).
And if you don't make the lineup, come along anyway, have some great food, and most importantly, help us raise money for charity. We know things are tight these days, so even though entry is free, we encourage people to make whatever donation they can (but only if you can!). Every penny collected on the night goes to our chosen charity LAMP (www.lampadvocacy.co.uk)
