The Holdovers (Cert 15) is an intelligent and heart-warming film and is deservedly a new Christmas classic. A New England prep school is forced to remain open during the Christmas break and Paul Giamatti is on top form as an embittered teacher who has to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. He learns a hard lesson in empathy when he forms an unlikely bond with a damaged, brainy troublemaker and the school’s head cook, played by Da’Vine Joy Randolf, winner of the Best Supporting Actress in the 2024 Academy Awards for her role.Tickets for food and film £14.
We will be serving a delicious Holdovers themed Xmas meal of glazed ham with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and green beans cooked by James Brighurst, formerly of Angelo’s Italian Restaurant. Vegetarian option available.
