We are delighted to have the opportunity to invite you to celebrate the opening of The Hive on Thursday 12th August from 7pm.The Hive is one of very few community-owned venues in the country, which was invested in by many local residents and supported by Keyfund, Power To Change, Big Society Capital, More Than A Pub Fund, and social investment lenders including Co-Op & Community Finance.
When EI Group announced they were no longer offering a lease on DeBees and expressed their intention to dispose of the building on the open market, the venue looked set to be lost to the town for good after having entertaining the people of Winsford for 23 years. The Hive Live Ltd took up the challenge to raise funds to save the building on behalf of the local community. Through the hard work of volunteers, local residents and a passionate board of trustees, The Hive was able to raise nearly £500,000 in order to purchase the building into community ownership, with a budget for refurbishments. The community share offer alone raised approximately £160,000.
The opening reception will give us the opportunity to thank our many supporters and investors and those who gave their time freely both behind the scenes and on stage during the fundraising process. Bubbly and nibbles will be available for all guests upon arrival.
The Hive has been working very hard on preparing a schedule of activities to suit all ages, abilities, and interests going forwards, and we cannot wait to share this with you.
Our café bar and courtyard venue will open to the public from 7pm on Thursday 12th August, with live acoustic music in the evening. The celebrations will continue Friday through to Sunday with an impressive line-up of live music, children’s entertainment, dancers, and more.

With regards to the public’s safety surrounding COVID, our venue will maintain limited numbers and we are politely asking that guests consider using a mask if in close proximity with others, even though restrictions have now been lifted.
