About this Event
Join us for a special edition of the Unmasked Memory Café as we welcome renowned local historian David Glover for a fascinating talk on the rich history of Holdsworth House, one of Calderdale’s most treasured heritage buildings.
This interactive session will explore the story of this elegant Grade II listed home, dating back to the reign of Charles I. David will guide us through centuries of history, including:
- The life of a remarkable 19th-century diarist and philanthropist with Brontë family links
- How the house evolved through changing eras
- The surprising arrival of The Beatles in 1964, during their only visit to Calderdale
- Its transformation into a distinguished hotel loved by stars of film and television
- Filming connections, including scenes from Last Tango in Halifax
Our Memory Café provides a warm, safe and welcoming space designed to support older adults, carers and anyone who enjoys reminiscence, history, and gentle social connection.
The event is free to attend, cake and refreshments will also be provided.
