About this Event
This is a 60-90 minute walking tour of downtown St. Augustine, exploring the dark side of St Augustine's past. St. Augustine was founded in 1565, and is the oldest continually-occupied European city in the United States. Tours of the Old City are either about mythical ghosts, or are dramatized retellings of a glorified past. This is a completely different tour. It is a tour that explores the dark side of history, the grim reality of St. Augustine’s past and how it is a microcosm of the history of the United States as a whole. This tour is not for entertainment purposes only, nor is it a tour appropriate for children. Instead it is a tour for those interested in the truth -however ugly- and those who believe that history is important because it is how we learn from the past and heal humanity’s collective wounds.
