You are invited to experience a transformative journey of self-discovery at Healing with Horses Ranch. This unique event will take you on a personal exploration of your inner hero. You will be guided by our certified professionals and assisted by members of our incredible therapy herd.Our day will include:
- Nature based mindfulness activities
- Self-reflective exercises
- Partnering with horses
- Art for integration
Utilizing Joseph Campbell’s Hero's Journey framework, attendees will discover and identify guides, helpers, tricksters, and other archetypes that play a role in their life's journey. The goal of this workshop is to explore the universal story inherent in our human experience; the Hero’s Journey provides fertile terrain for mapping your unique experience. You will come away from this workshop empowered by a deeper understanding of the patterns in your life and new life-navigation skills that can help ease traversing life’s difficult moments.
Working with our equine teachers provides a powerful opportunity to embody a new story and a fresh path towards self-aligned action and life purpose. These special teachers will serve as a guide and mentor during the journey inward. By building a bond with an equine through ground work, attendees will explore patience, trust, compassionate awareness, courage, healthy forms of communication, and develop new tools for overcoming challenges in the real world.
At Healing With Horses Ranch, we strive to root our equine-assisted activities in research and science. Our evidence based approach will be led by Karen Perkins, Certified Wellness Coach/Facilitator, Marchelle Scarnier Surplus, PhD Psychology & ESMHL, and Sheri Moore, MA Art History, CTRI, & ESMHL. Equine-assisted learning activities are facilitated on the ground, and do not include riding.

FAQs:
Do I need to have experience with horses?
- Nope! Whether you are an experienced equestrian or never met a horse before, this training is for you. All activities will be guided by trained professionals, and our horses are gentle and well-trained for beginner interactions.
Will lunch be provided?
- Participants will need to bring their own lunch. We have a refrigerator and microwave on-site.
What should I wear?
- Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, including closed-toe shoes. For safety reasons, sandals or flip-flops are not permitted around the horses.
What should I bring with me?
- Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle. All other necessary materials will be provided.
