About this Event
‘The Heirs of the Universe’
Curated by Ziyan Xu.
A collaborative exhibition with Eat Work Art, at Cornerstone Studios, Camberwell.
In this spellbinding exhibition, Ziyan Xu invite us into a world where the universe binds us together in nature. Exploring both our innate and our physical connection with the earth, through sculpture, textiles and oil painting, 'The Heirs of the Universe' interrogates our very relationship with that which surrounds us.
"Humans and the universe are a unity — it is a belief that is deeply rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy. Everyone has in their body the power of the mountains, rivers, lightning, and any other forms of mother nature's manifestations. In other words, each person is intricately entangled with every fabric of the universe. With this understanding, everyone can set aside their normative concepts, adjust their perspective on the present time and space, as well as watch their body's conversations with the world independently without any disturbances. We are 'children of the universe.'"
Opening night: Thursday 18th April, from 5:30pm
Exhibition: Friday 19th to Monday 29th, 10am-6pm daily
