About this Event

The HEAD Foundation Dialogues: The Transformative Power of Leadership (and clean toilets)

“To live a useful life” is Dr Jack Sim’s motto in life. Best known to the world as “Mr Toilet: The World’s #2 Man”, he broke the silence on the health crisis due to poor sanitation by founding the World Toilet Organisation (WTO) in 2001.

This commitment to improve toilet and sanitation conditions worldwide has been driving the WTO’s work for the past two decades, empowering individuals through education, training and building local marketplace opportunities to advocate for clean sanitation facilities in their communities.

In this same spirit of living a useful life, Dr Sim will also be speaking on the great need to recognise the transformative leadership potential of young people, drawing from his own education journey. It is by having a society of leaders who innovate and pool resources together that makes solving massive problems, such as global poverty, possible.

Speaker

Dr Jack Sim, Founder of World Toilet Organization

Jack Sim is globally renowned as Mr Toilet. When he saw 2.6 billion people without proper sanitation, he founded the World Toilet Organization in 2001 and transformed the taboo of Toilets and Sanitation into a media darling to give Sanitation its own agenda on the global stage, with United Nations designating 19 November as World Toilet Day.

Jack also founded Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) Hub, a business-centric organisation using hybrid cross-sector collaborations to alleviate poverty sustainably through creating efficient BOP marketplace for the 4 billion poor.
