About this Event
Join local music teacher/composer Andy Jarema at Heritage Park as he shares his research into the relationship between bird song and music. Attendees will learn about the fascinating science behind bird song and trace the history of music composers utilizing bird song in their works. Attendees will also participate in listening exercises to identify birds by ear, including a live bird walk to try out their listening skills in the wild! All ages and ability levels welcome.
Heritage Park in Farmington Hills has 211-acres along 4.5 miles of trails for hiking and nature study. We have high chances to see a wide array of woodpeckers, swallows, Chimney Swifts, Eastern Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, Cedar Waxwings, Sparrows, and Warblers with a chance of seeing the resident Barred Owl.
A portion of the trails are paved and accessible to wheelchairs.
