Calling all CREATIVES: We are excited to announce our 2024 Happy Campers Project lineup! We are offering classes for ages 5 to 17 so every student has an option to learn something new. This year, classes are four hours each day to optimize learning. The younger kiddos will meet in the morning and the tweens & teens will meet in the afternoon. Get creative with clay, writing, music making, upcycling, and MORE!
Please note, sessions run from JULY 1st - AUGUST 2nd! Facebook events only allow two week increments.

MORNING SESSIONS
8:00 am - 12:00 pm
* Summer Clay Class- CLASS IS FILLED
Instructor: Laura Bain-Selbo
Subject: Hand Building with Clay
Price: $150/student includes materials
Age Group: Ages 7-12
Dates: July 1st - July 5th (no class July 4th)
Children will learn basic hand building techniques, including pinch, coil and soft slab work. Students will spend the first part of each class learning the techniques and skills needed for that day’s project. Completed work will be fired and will need to be picked up at a future date tbd.
* Upcycled Paper Creations
Instructor: TO BE ANNOUNCED
Subject: 2-D and 3-D Paper Crafts
Price: $150/student, materials included
Age Group: Ages 7-12
Dates: July 8th - July 12th
Let your kiddo explore their imaginations using cardboard, books, magazines, and other printed materials. From multimedia collages and a paper airplane competition, to handmade bowls made from egg cartons, students will love all the skills they will take away from this adventurous class.
*Music Makers
Instructor: Carol McDowell
Subject: Music
Price: $150/student
Age Group: Ages 5-8
Dates: July 15th - July 19th
This class will explore musical concepts through children's literature. Students will play classroom instruments daily along with musical games to reinforce rhythm, form, tone color, and contour. Students will also choose a story & add sound effects, rhythm, & a melody for a Friday performance.
*Music Makers

Subject: Music
Price: $150/student
Age Group: Ages 7-11
Dates: July 22nd - July 26th

*Adventures in Art- SPOTS FILLING QUICKLY
Instructor: Carol Horst
Subject: 2-D and 3-D Multimedia
Price: $150
Age Group: Ages 6-11
Dates: July 29th - August 2nd
Young artists will have fun exploring and creating artworks using a wide variety of mediums including drawing, painting, and 3D materials. Be sure to dress for a mess!

AFTERNOON SESSIONS

*Cityscapes
Instructor: Joshua Newth
Subject: Drawing
Price: $150/student
Age Group: Ages 11-15
Dates: July 1st - July 5th (no class July 4th)
Professor of Foundations Joshua Newth will lead students interested in various forms of linear perspective to engage and explore in their own city. This class is sure to inspire students to see the world around them from a new vantage point.
*How To 'Zine
Instructor: Ash Durrance
Subject: DIY Publishing & Creative Writing
Price: $150/student, materials included
Age Group: Ages 11-15
Dates: July 8th - July 12th
The term zine, came to be in the 1940s as a way for music- and book-lovers to share their passions with others in their community. Students will also have time for journaling, crafting, research, doodling, and other activities directly related to the zine process. By the end of this course, each attendee will come away with several of their own zines ready to copy and distribute.
*Chamber Orchestra
Instructor: Andrew Hacay
Subject: Music- Strings
Price: $200
Age Group: Ages 11-17
Dates: July 15th - July 19th
String students will learn how to perform in an orchestral setting. This class is open to current violin, viola, cello, and double bass players. All skill levels are welcome. Students will learn arrangements of pop songs and other modern music, with performances on the last day of class. Students will receive a t-shirt, as well as daily snacks. Please provide a shirt size and any dietary restrictions in your registration.
*Fiddle Troupe
Instructor: Andrew Hacay
Subject: Music - Violin & Guitar
Price: $200
Age Group: 6th - 12th
Dates: July 22nd - July 26th
This class is open to any current violin or guitar players who are able to bring their own instrument. Students will learn basic fiddle tunes and will perform everything they learn on the last day of class. Students will receive a t-shirt for this class as well as daily snacks. Please provide a shirt size and any dietary restrictions in your registration.
*Bullet Journaling
Instructor: Kelly Downes
Subject: Graphic Design
Price: $150/student
Age Group: 9 - 14 yrs
Dates: July 29th - August 2nd
Explore the art of mind-mapping with a variety of prompts to explore their goals, dreams, ideas and plans. Bullet-journaling will help students develop lifelong strategies for organization and personal development in a fun and artistic way. All students will leave with a sketchbook of their creations to use throughout the school year.
