Hi Gents. We have a chance to take part in an event on 10th May called the Rhondda Rollercoaster. It’s arranged by the Long Distance Walking Association. Greg and Sally walked this route with others two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a very scenic route and there will be up to 250 people attending so it’s a popular event. We will be looking for gents to be Marshall’s at various checkpoints instead of walking if you are interested? Here are more details from the website - Roll up Roll up! South Wales LDWA are pleased to announce the return of the Gwyn Mathews’ Rollercoaster. Starting from Trehafod Community Village Hall, participants can once again choose from either 26.5 or 16 miles that showcase the beautiful but rugged Rhondda Valleys. Both routes start with a climb through the forests of Mynydd Y Glyn and then over Mynydd Y Cymmer before the two routes part ways. The 26 mile participants will then tackle moorland and through woods towards the glacial cwm and stunning views of Bwlch y Clawdd before turning home via Ton Pentre and Ferndale. The 16 mile route will descend to Dinas then tackle the sharp climb towards Rhondda Golf Club with spectacular views over the two Rhondda Valleys. The routes will merge again for a final leg testing climb towards the iconic Tylorstown Tip viewpoint before the last leg home.
There will be toast and tea at the start, outdoor and indoor checkpoints with refreshments along both routes and a hot meal at the end. All participants receive a certificate of completion.
Entries will close when all spaces are full and a waiting list will be used. We expect the event to fill quickly.

Time Limit : Start for walkers 8am (Fast walkers and runners start at 9am. All to finish by 19.30.
Let Greg or myself know if you can make it. It’ll be a fun day and an accomplishment for some. Families welcome but won’t be suitable for children.
