Sky Masterson, Nathan Detroit, and many other upright citizens wish that you should join them for an evening of dancing and conviviality in the world of master wordsmith Damon Runyon. Many guys and dolls shall be putting on their dancing shoes and classiest glad rags.
At 7 pm, there will be a pre-ball workshop in "Fred & Ginger-style" slow foxtrot and in East Coast Swing. Formal dancing continues from 8 pm to midnight with the fabulous Sara & Swingtime who are well noted to play the best in music for dancing, from romantic waltzes to hot Swing, from elegant fox trots, tangos, and Latin to cool Blues.
1930's, 40’s or 50’s costume or vintage or modern evening dress is admired but not required. Most of Damon Runyon's stories are set during the '30's and 40's but the famous movie version, "Guys and Dolls" is set in the early 1950's. The inhabitants of Runyon’s work are many and varied, with gamblers, show girls, gangsters, promoters, and society types mingling freely.
There will be a full bar outside the ballroom and a light snack buffet in the parlor.
