Founded in 1886, Arsenal Football Club is historically London's most successful. As its name suggests, the club's roots are in Woolwich, once the headquarters of Britain's artillery (hence 'Gunners'). The move to North London took place in 1913. Subsequently, under legendary managers Herbert Chapman, Bertie Mee and Arsène Wenger, Arsenal has won many trophies in league and cup, including the 'Double' in 1971, 1998 and 2002.

We meet at Arsenal tube station, formerly Gillespie Road and renamed in 1932.
We'll then explore the area around Arsenal's former home, Highbury, where much of the fabric of the old stadium has been preserved. From there we'll continue to the Emirates Stadium for an approximate one hour tour.
Our event will finish with an optional free tour around the club museum.
Please note that timings are approximate.
Our tour leader is London Historians Member Samir Singh, who is in charge of the Arsenal in the Community programme and founding curator of the club's museum.
Ticket funds will to a local charity, St Luke's Community History Group.
