About this Event
Sponsored by Atwater Village Neighborhood Council and hosted in partnership with SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition
The River needs YOU! This summer, join FoLAR and our partners for a series of small, in-person cleanups to collect trash and prevent waste from polluting our watershed and urban waterways. Together, we’ll make a collective impact and do our part to tend to the vibrant urban ecosystems that thrive throughout Los Angeles.
All registered volunteers will receive a CleanUp Starter Kit, available for pickup at a local REI or mailed to your provided address, with the essentials to participate, including trash bags and a pair of plant-based disposable gloves. As part of our COVID-19 Safety Protocols, additional supplies may not be provided on site.
Bond Park is located in Atwater Village along the scenic Glendale Narrows, the central and longest natural area of the LA River. The River has an earthen bottom here, with tall trees, sandbar islands, and lots of birds, including ducks, stilts, egrets, and herons.
In collaboration with the SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition, we will be hosting a donation drive at this site. Volunteers are encouraged to donate any of the following items: new sandals/flip flops, sunscreen, hat/shade coverings, electrolyte powder, hygiene kits, first aid kits, hand/body wipes, batteries, and canned goods. Donated items will be given to our partners at SELAH to distribute to unhoused individuals along the River during their weekly engagement walks and monthly distribution events. .
