Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary (SLNS) is partnering with Special Bird Service (SBS) and the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) to host a free two-day bioblitz event! This is part of the Great Canadian Bioblitz and is a perfect opportunity to explore your local environment, document the diverse species you encounter, and contribute valuable data to conservation efforts locally and across the country.
This two-day event will be supplemented with free drop-in workshops to provide participants with the opportunity to further their learning on local ecosystems and ecological stewardship.
These workshops will include:
- A how to guide on using iNaturalist led by local naturalist Burl Jantzen, introducing folks to iNaturalist and exploring the diversity of the Nature Sanctuary.
- A guided bird walk led by Special Bird Service.
- A Pond Dip on the Swan Lake Founders' Wharf led by Swan Lake staff. Participants will learn about wetland ecosystems and the various creatures that live in the lake
- A guided nature journalling workshop led by Swan Lake staff.
Support for this program is through Nature Canada.
