Thank the Goodness it's Fr1day!That's right, on Saturday October 12,the Goodness is back, with a celebration of Brisbane's faithful person-servant of techno, DJ Fr1day.
Ever since the days when the Goodness crew were marooned on that desert island, Fr1day has been a source of inspiration, innovation and improvisation. Indeed he fairly saved the whole crew's sanity on the island. We had food, we had water, but the lack of techno was a serious problem.
Fr1day was unstoppable. Over the course of several years he restored the sound system on our shipwrecked jet-ski to full operation by building his own foundry fired with coconut husks, and made an ingenious hand-cranked turntable out of clam shells, palm trunks and a lobster spine. The triumph was his process to cut banging beats onto platters of coconut wax and bat guano. Once he nailed that, we had everything we needed and survived on a diet of (very tribal) techno until we were finally rescued by Rohan Marley (passing by on his yacht), who subsequently incorporated some of Fr1day's island tech into his Marley Audio products - true story!
Anyway, to commemorate this little-remembered episode in the storied history of the Goodness, we're bringing the island vibes to Echo and Bounce on Saturday October 12th. We've got 4 cubic meters of sand going in downstairs and a palm forest being transplanted from Bora Bora. We're recycling the tokomak from the Womble-Fusion event to turn night into day, so bring the ray bans and sunscreen and get ready to sweat, as Fr1day bangs it out with support from Fuzion, G-Money and a special appearance from another Brisbane techno legend, Shadrach.
Dirty haus, techno and electro Goodness, 8pm - 1am. Free entry as always, but you can support the crew and E&B with a donation of whatever you feel like over the bar. BYO coconuts.
