About this Event

Please join us for a welcoming evening of contempory and experimental poetry and music in the Cafe at the Old Fire Station. Arrive 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Readings from local poets Sophia Argyris and Corinna Board, London-based poet Sitron Panopoulos and Bristol-based poet Andrew Hykel Mears, plus experimental musical soundscapes from local musician he didnt.

Meet the Poets:

Sitron F Panopoulos is a Greek poet and educator living in London. Besides writing poetry, he has developed a play for the Arcola Theatre Lab and released music under the moniker Sitron F. His work appeared recently in Seaford Review and Black Iris and in anthologies by Toothgrinder Press and Carnival Press. He is an alumni of the Writing Poetry MA at the Poetry School/ Newcastle University. He is a poet in residence at Present Tense where he curates along with Rushika Wick, Ancestral a bi monthly series of poetry events exploring “archaeo-poetics”.

Sophia Argyris is of British-Greek origin, born in Belgium. Her work has appeared in 14 Magazine, Magma, Mslexia, Poetry Ireland Review, Poetry London, and been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize. She is author of Heronless (Palewell Press) and her pamphlet Blood Tundra is forthcoming with Broken Sleep Books in 2026. She is also an Iyengar Yoga teacher in Oxford.

Corinna Board teaches English as an additional language in an Oxford secondary school. She grew up on a farm, and her writing is often inspired by the rural environment. She particularly enjoys exploring our connection to the more than-human. Arboreal, her debut pamphlet, was published in January 2024. Her second pamphlet Maedwe is published by Salo Press, 2026.

Andrew Hykel Mears has been published by PN Review, Poetry Birmingham, Propel, Gilded Dirt, Berlin Lit, Pariah Press, and elsewhere.His most recent pamphlets are Open Ribs are a Church Full of Sky (Bread & Roses Press [US], 2024), Rivering (Scarlett Tiger Press, early summer 2026), and The Pots Use Comes from Emptiness (ARP, late summer 2026).He is founder and managing editor of the ecological arts journal Ambient Receiver, and editorial director of Bread & Roses Press (UK) - an anarchist publisher and small press distributor. He is a PhD candidate exploring 'Ambient Eco-Poetics' as a way to write with the more-than-human.Andrew has composed for contemporary dance, performed improvised film soundtracks, and backed poet and rapper Saul Williams, author and musician Adam Gnade, and Can’s Damo Suzuki. He was a founding member of Oxford bands Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies (@youthmovies_the_band) & Foals.
