In the 1960s and 1970s Jamaican musicians fused American soul and their island's folk music and rhythms to create reggae and popularize it throughout the world. On Thursday, July 11 at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco at 3200 California Street from 1pm-2:30pm Pacific Time, I'll spotlight performances by reggae icons like Bob Marley & the Wailers, Toots & the Maytals, Millie Small, Desmond Dekker, and others. Admission is free, though registration is recommended through https://www.jccsf.org/event/the-golden-age-of-reggae-music/. This event will not be on Zoom or recorded.
