DAVID LANCE CALLAHAN
(Wolfhounds/Moonshake) 'English Primitive I and II' solo
David Lance Callahan is an extraordinary character and musician. He has founded The Wolfhounds in the mid-80s which were part of the iconic C86 compilation. In the 90s David was (along with Margaret Fiedler) the leader of Moonshake which, along with other bands from the Too Pure label, contributed with energetic imagination to creating a kaleidoscopic post-rock scene in Britain. After having successfully reformed the Wolfhounds a few years ago, the pandemic led David to rework many of the songs he had prepared and to release, after more than 30 years of activity, his first, awesome solo album: "English Primitive I".

The follow-up to last year’s first volume, "English Primitive II" continues the themes introduced previously in a harder, more electric and psychedelic style. The songs were mostly recorded during the same sessions but, if EPI showcased the ‘songs of innocence’, this new set comprises ‘songs of experience’.

HELEN McCOOKERYBOOK

Helen McCookerybook was founder member of the bands The Chefs and Helen and the Horns, both of which recorded numerous sessions for John Peel, and released material on independent labels. Now a solo artist, she gigs in the UK, Europe and beyond and features regularly on BBC6 music.
Her latest album "Drawing On My Dreams" was released in October 2022. It was produced, engineered & mixed by herself. Guest musicians included Steve Beresford (“a central figure in the British and international spontaneous music scenes”), Lindy Morrison (The Go-Betweens) and Anne Wood (The Raincoats). Tracks have been played by Gideon Coe (“Helen McCookerybook has an excellent new record …”), Gary Crowley and Tom Robinson on their respective national radio shows.
