Dette blir en spennende konsert på Vaktbua! World music/tribe/folk som framføres akustisk og på et historisk gambisk instrument som heter kora og hulusi - en kinesisk sekkepipe!
NB: Tidlig konsertstart kl 18.00.
De to verdensmusikerene møttes i Gambia i 2013 på vei til Festival au Désert, og turnerte første gang i UK i 2015. Siden 2019 har de turnert i Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, Tsjekkia, Nederland og Tyskland.
Katuš Young og Yankuba Conteh beveger seg sømløst mellom Afrikanske og Asiatiske musikktradisjoner, improvisasjon og historiefortelling…
Jali Yankuba Conteh er en gambiansk kora-virtuos og historieforteller.
Katuš Young er en walisisks-tysk/tsjekkisk musiker. Hun skifter sømløst mellom språk og instrumenter. Blandt annet den opprinnelige kinesiske sekkepipen som hun oppdaget i Nanjing.
Katuš har turnert over hele verden, både solo, i duo og trio, med musikere som Nigel Kennedy, The Levellers, Lenka Dusilová, Donovan og Seth Lakeman.

The Gifthorses - Katuš Young and Yankuba:
They met in Gambia in 2013 on the way to Festival au Desert and first toured the UK in 2015 and established the Bai Conteh Music School.
Since 2019 they have toured in Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, Czechia, Holland and Germany. They slip seamlessly between Mandinka Melodies and Czech, English, French, Bulgarian and Gaeillic songs, with dashes of story telling and improvisation with Kora and Chinese Hulusi..it’s like roving the world in their backpack.
Jali Yankuba Conteh: Gambian Kora Virtuoso, oral historian,
grandson of Alhaji Bai Konteh, son of Dembo Konteh. He’s been
playing the kora for 400 years.
Katuš Young: A Welsh/ Czech troubadour, unique in her brilliant
self taught guitar style, able to slip seamlessly between languages
and instruments with a voice as ancient as the hulusi - the origin of the bagpipe.
Lenker:
