About this Event
This free celebration and concert commemorates the day in 1865 that Union Army Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger issued General Order No. 3 in Galveston, which announced the freedom of more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state of Texas and honors the contributions of African Americans to American music, food, art, business, and culture.

We will also have funding resources and networking for small businesses and community resource information through East Harris County Empowerment Council as well as art from local artists through Harris County Cultural Arts Council.
Don’t forget the kids! The Kid's Zone brought to us in partnership with H-E-B, will feature free face painters and balloon artists (3:30p-7:30p), as well as crafts, games, and more. We hope you’ll be part of this great community event that helps celebrate and educate on the importance of Juneteenth.
