About this Event

The NewSpace industry has developed rapidly in Chicago over the past two years. There are now no less than eight space start-ups in the city. While several of these companies are developing space tech, other disciplines including law, marketing, and finance are represented. Join industry leaders, experts, professionals, and others for NewSpace Chicago’s return to in-person events with the first in a series of fireside chats with leaders from Chicago space companies as they discuss the NewSpace industry and its exciting future.

Panelists for this event:

Troy Morris is a co-founder and Director of Operations at Kall Morris Inc., a Michigan-based space solutions company removing and repurposing uncooperative objects in orbit. He leads customer engagement, partner coordination and organization of the business, with an education in Psychology/Behavior Analysis from Northern Michigan University.

Scott Nelson is the Vice President of Product and Strategy at SCOUT, a technology startup that offers optical sensors, data intelligence, and software to manage and understand space traffic, and ensure the safe expansion of industry beyond earth. He has a decade of experience in the financial services sector and joined SCOUT in 2022, where he is responsible for driving the company's vision and managing the government contract portfolio.

David Hurst is the CEO of Orbital Transports and an experienced technology entrepreneur with a background in software engineering. He founded Orbital Transports to develop space logistics and orbital infrastructure technologies to support human settlement in the Solar System.

Charles Lee Mudd Jr is the founder of Mudd Law Offices and has been practicing for 16 years, with a broad-based practice representing clients in various litigation and transactional matters. He is an expert in technology, intellectual property, and the internet and recently positioned his firm to specialize in space law and the commercial space industry.

This is part of a continuing series of space entrepreneurship discussion and networking forums presented by NewSpace Chicago and hosted at mHUB Chicago.
