From Hopkins endoscope and keyhole surgery to surgical robots and augmented reality, we will explore innovation in the operating theatre.
About this Event

Join Lord Ara Darzi, Professor of Surgery and co-director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation, together with members of the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery at Imperial College London, for an exploration on how the field of surgery has evolved right back from early innovation showcased at the Great Exhibition of 1851, right up to the present day and how the current team of engineers and doctors are developing the next generation of surgical technologies.

As part of a live, interactive session, we will explore a forward-looking overview of some of today’s trailblazing innovations that will fundamentally change how surgery is carried out in the coming decades, including demonstrations of new medical imaging techniques, sensor technology, surgical robots and augmented reality, which will enhance the field of surgery, for example, in performing operations more safely, or training in carrying out new types of ground breaking surgical procedures.

This event is part of the Great Exhibition Road Festival: Trailblazers.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the event begins if you have a ticket to join the event in South Kensington. If you arrive after this time, your ticket may be reallocated.
