To celebrate National Manufacturing Month, Milwaukee PBS and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel have teamed up to present The Future of Manufacturing Town Hall and job fair on Thursday, Oct. 3 in Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Cooley Auditorium.
This free and open to the public event will focus on the importance of attracting and training the workforce as the industry trends towards high tech and automation. The job fair runs from 3 to 4:15 p.m. and the town hall will begin at 4:30 and go until 5:30.
Panelists include Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry CEO Sachin Shivaram, Rockwell Automation Quality Team Lead and Build Sessions CLE founder Aaliyah Brown, Sussex IM CEO Megan Tzanoukakis, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers representative Kevin Murch, and MATC instructor Barney Bannon.
The town hall will also feature pre-recorded interviews with several high-profile executives, including Microsoft President Brad Smith, Husco CEO Austin Ramirez, Sentry Equipment Corp. CEO Brian Baker, GenMet owner Mary Isbister and Palermo’s Pizza CEO Giacomo Falluca. The conversation will be moderated by Milwaukee PBS host Portia Young and recorded for a broadcast on Milwaukee PBS later in October.
The job fair will take place directly before the town hall in the hallway outside the auditorium. It will run from 3 to 4:15 p.m. and will feature local businesses that will be on hand to talk about job openings, provide resources and showcase their manufacturing work.
Cooley Auditorium is located in the main building of the MATC Downtown campus, located at 1015 N. 6th Street in Milwaukee.
