In collaboration with Vapaa Collective and the European Commission representation and with the support of the EUNIC Cluster members in Helsinki, the Europe Readr Space at EU@Oodi in the Oodi Library in Helsinki was created to promote the Europe Readr digital platform. The platform comprises 27 literary works from 27 EU member states in their original languages and in English. All works fall under the theme of the future of living.On Monday 18 October 2021 at 16.00, artists, architects, sculptors, authors, and other participants will discuss how they envision a more sustainable life, nurturing culture and reading. The panel will start from the new paradigm of European collaboration in culture, based on dialogue and promoting culture as a driving force of sustainable development and social inclusion. The moderator will seek answers on questions such as:
• How can the reading culture help shape the future of living?
• How can we create an inclusive environment for the reading culture and how can we improve it?
• How can EU-level initiatives such as the Green Deal and Bauhaus contribute to this?
We will touch upon these topics with the overall objective to discuss how culture can help create a better, sustainable way of living. The theme of the discussion also resonates with the Conference on the Future of Europe, allowing the citizens’ voice to be heard.
The Europe Readr project is closely linked to the New European Bauhaus, a creative and interdisciplinary movement in the making that anyone can be part of. The New European Bauhaus initiative connects the European Green Deal to our living spaces. It calls on all Europeans to imagine and build a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes, our minds, and our souls.
