4 energy-related themes to discover, presented by 4 engineering master's students at the University of Liège.
About this Event

Are you interested in energy? Do you want to learn more about four current topics?
The concept is simple: 4 presenters, 4 presentations. Each presenter will have 15 minutes to (re)introduce you to a topic. This will be followed by a 15-minute discussion and Q&A session.
As part of a course at the University of Liège on the evolution of the energy industry, supervised by Professor Damien Ernst, Professor Bertrand Cornélusse, and Professor Louis Wehenkel, four Master's students in Electrical and Energy Engineering will present topics they have worked on throughout this academic year.
The first part of the workshop will focus on the challenges faced by electrical grids today, including the integration of active network management. Following this, the O-One Algorithm, which is already in operation, will be discussed. Finally, an introduction to a future project named SCOPE will be presented.
The second part of the workshop will cover local electricity markets, energy communities, and other ways to exchange energy on a small geographical scale. The various technologies and advancements in this field will also be discussed.
The third part of the workshop will be about Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. The workshop will address the main barriers and profitability of using V2G for balancing services, share insights from interview results, and discuss the future of V2G-enabled services.
The fourth and final part of the workshop will provide an overview of Black Starts. This presentation will cover the primary causes of blackouts, the procedures for grid restoration, and the technical and economic challenges transmission system operators face when planning a Black Start.
The workshop will take place on 17/06 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Sart Tilman campus, building b28, room 1.126. No registration is necessary.
