Co-designing the 2030 European Roadmap for sustainable food packaging.
About this Event

Join us for an interactive 2030 Roadmap workshop where we tackle the European Union's packaging waste challenge. With each European generating nearly 180 kg of packaging waste annually, we'll explore the potential of bioplastics, which currently make up less than 1% of plastic production but offer environmental benefits.

As we work alongside PRESERVE project partners, industry leaders, and scientific experts, we'll shape the future of sustainable packaging. Together, we'll identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities to replace fossil plastic food and drink packaging by 2030, focusing on EU Policy, research, innovation, market dynamics, and legislation.

Funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, the PRESERVE project's goal is to develop materials that can replace over 60% of fossil plastic packaging by 2030, reducing CO2 emissions and supporting job growth across various industries.

This event marks the launch of a co-design process for the 2030 European Roadmap in food and drink packaging, emphasizing upcycling and renewable production. Held alongside the renowned European Bioplastics Conference, our workshop will unveil the latest PRESERVE project achievements, poised for market adoption.

Furthermore, attendees will have the unique opportunity to pinpoint regulatory and research gaps hindering the transition to sustainable biobased packaging. Our workshop's outcomes and feedback will be shared with EU decision-makers, enabling attendees to drive high-level impact on the future of sustainable biobased packaging policies.
