The Frank and Walters was founded in Cork at the beginning of the 90s. Their mission: to spread joy and optimism around the globe through music. Named after some eccentric old men from down the street, their energetic shows, infectious tunes, and seeming irrepressible happiness gained a following. Before long major and independent labels were interested. In 1991 the Franks were signed to Setanta Records They very quickly got down and dirty. First, they moved to London and released an EP full of well-crafted and memorable songs. ‘Fashion Crisis Hits New York’ was one of them. The band chose to earn fame by playing hundreds gigs. They were infamous for wearing their oversized purple-and-orange uniforms when provoked. The album has been described by Ashley, the drummer as being “15 year too late and five years too early”.In late 2002, after touring their recently released Best Of, the band chose to take a rest from gigging and record, choosing to recharge its artistic batteries.
