About this Event
Led by glass artist Laura Beth Konopinski in her cozy midtown Longmont, CO studio, this class is your ticket to mastering the basics of stained glass through creating a window panel. We're super excited to offer this extended stained glass class! We will meet for 6 Sunday afternoon sessions, May 11- June 15 from 1:00-4:00pm.
ALL levels are welcome!
This is a beginner class and no experience is required. This class can also serve as a great refresher course for anyone who has previously worked with the techniques of making stained glass.
All tools and materials are provided at the studio while creating your project. By the last class, you'll have a beautiful piece of art to proudly display in your front window!
In this class, you will:
- Select your design and choose your glass hues
- Shape, grind, foil and solder: Learn to cut, refine, and assemble your final project,
- Hear many tips & tricks to help you along your glass learning journey
- Receive a sheet of curated resources to help you continue making stained glass more confidently on your own!

**Safety precautions are mandatory! So for this workshop, please wear natural material clothing (such as cotton or linen) and pull back all loose hair since we will be working with some heat. Please keep your beverage in a closed-top container.
There is plenty of street parking in this neighborhood and we kindly ask you not to park in the studio driveway.

We will run this class with a Minimum of 4 students
Agenda
Week 1: Patterns
Info: You will choose a design and your glass colors. Then, you'll cut out your paper pattern, apply it to your colored glass pieces in preparation for the next step.
Week 2: Cutting
Info: You'll practice cutting different shapes and then you'll cut around your glass pattern pieces.
Week 3: Grinding
Info: You will grind and fit together your pattern pieces.
Week 4: Foiling
Info: You will learn about copper foiling techniques and then begin foiling your pattern pieces.
Week 5: Soldering
Info: You'll learn the how's and why's of soldering and then you'll get to assemble your pieces together.
Week 6: Finishing
Info: We'll finish up anything from the previous weeks. Then, we'll focus on making a zinc frame and adding a hanger to your final piece. Last step of cleaning and polishing. Now, admire your piece and be proud of all that you've learned!
