In celebration of Native American month, learn about the native people who once lived where the Carlyle House now stands. Angela Hart, a descendant of Pocahontas and a member of the Pamunkey tribe, will take the participants back in time with a presentation on the Native Americans who lived on the land prior to it's purchase by John Carlyle in 1749 as well as the traditions of the tribes who inhabited the land we now call Alexandria. Learn about a typical 'day in the life' of a member of one of the many Algonquin tribes who comprised the Powhatan Confederacy and cultural traditions that would have been typical of the 1500's and 1600's in Northern and Eastern Virginia. Price includes admission to take a tour of the museum after the program is over.Registration suggested but not required.
