Murray Thorson, author of “The First Passover, New Discoveries of the Astronomy and Date” and four related books, will give a free-to-the-public, one-hour, PowerPoint-facilitated presentation with Q&A titled “The First Passover, Adonai’s Protection of Israel on Display” from 6 to 7 PM on Tuesday, December 30, at the Richland Public Library. We’ll see the back-calculable total lunar eclipse that occurred concurrent with the midnight First Passover judgment as the soon-to-be nation of Israel prepared to leave Egypt. First, we’ll use a combination of Hebrew Scriptures (Tanakh), historical documentation (Josephus and others), and back-calculated astronomy alignments to pin the date. Of course, in hindsight (in the light of Scripture), this had to be what Adonai, the Lord, would do. All in Egypt who rejected the Lord’s plan of deliverance saw the moon, symbolic of Pharaoh’s firstborn son, turn blood-red on that full-moon night as their firstborn sons died. The Hebrews who followed Adonai’s direction via Moses sprinkled the blood of an unblemished one-year-old male lamb (sheep or goat) on their doorframes and ate that roasted lamb that night, staying in their homes as the judgments hit. Just as Adonai said He would, He passed over their humble dwellings, sparing them any judgment. The soon-to-be new nation of Israel would leave Egypt the next morning. Many doubt the historical accuracy of the Exodus. The total lunar eclipse at that midnight is clear evidence today of the accuracy of the Exodus account of the First Passover judgments. Adonai multiplied His wonders in the land of Egypt. He keeps His Word!!
