About this Event
STATEMENT: Experience an exploration of the first covenant through a curated collection of paintings at her latest solo exhibition with Norwest Gallery."
The first covenant is marriage, embodying the intersection of unconditional love and commitment —an indissoluble connection, where two individuals merge into one, sharing a lifetime of devotion and unity. An unbreakable bond. One life. One love.
BIO: I am Maisha Hughes, and I am a Detroit native. My first experience as an artist began in her early childhood. I've attended art courses at WCCC, CCS, Young Artists & Co. Inc., and Columbus College of Art & Design. I graduated from Cass Technical High School with a focus in Fashion Illustration. I work primarily in acrylic paint, and my intent is always to paint from the perspective of a person of color.
My influences were Wes Simpson, Bob Ross, and Gustav Klimt. I come from a family of artists and musicians so it can be said that painting is in my DNA.
