Strines was a community at the heart of the rural industrial revolution, until one fateful night in 1892, when the community's sole source of employment was taken by a devastating fire.Fifteen miles away in Manchester, a war for workers rights has been waged for decades, in the wake of the writings of Marx and Engels, as well as the rising Votes for Women movement lead by Emmeline Pankhurst and all in the shadow of the dark legacy of Peterloo.
For the first time this one off performance tells the story of those times in songs the workers would have known.
Performed in a special collaboration between Jon Coley and the Underground Folk Collective.
