About this Event
The Filling Station is the most important book I have ever written. It is not only about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre but also about the resilience of black people because it shows how they pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and rebuilt what had been destroyed by an angry white mob. With the Department of Justice opening an investigation into this 103-year-old massacre a couple of weeks ago (https://apnews.com/article/1921-tulsa-race-massacre-justice-department-review-ea6551dc40c73996c3bf7e0a3ad3b06d) and Oprah Winfrey filming a mini docu-series on Black Wall Street, there will be renewed interest in the most horrific attack against blacks on American soil.
