Join archaeologist, author and broadcaster, Dr Francis Pryor for this one-off exclusive event at Flag Fen.We are delighted to welcome Francis back to Flag Fen, a site he discovered more than 35 years ago, to explore the story of the Fens and their prehistoric past.
Drawing on the research for his BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week, 'The Fens', this will be a personal, historical journey across one of the most mysterious regions of England. Francis will explore the archaeology, history and landscapes he has excavated, walked, farmed and lived in for over forty years. This talk will have a particular focus on the prehistoric story of the Fens, which surround us at Flag Fen.
All proceeds from this event will go towards the conservation of Flag Fen Archaeology Park. Ticket prices include food from the BBQ, a hardback copy of Francis Pryor's 'The Fens' book, and an exclusive evening with Francis. Following the talk and Q&A session, there will be a book signing. Tickets are £35.
Francis Pryor is one of Britain’s most distinguished living archaeologists. He has served as President of the Council for British Archaeology, and has written and presented series on Britain BC, Britain AD and The Real Dad’s Army - although he may be best known for his regular appearances on Channel 4’s Time Team. In 1999 he was awarded an MBE ‘for services to tourism’.
Held in the Flag Fen Visitor Centre, as part of our midsummer celebrations of the site reopening to the public after more than a year of closure, this extremely exclusive evening is not to be missed! In line with Coronavirus guidelines, attendees will be asked to wear a face covering when in indoors areas unless exempt from these restrictions.
'Francis Pryor brings the magic of the Fens to life in a deeply personal and utterly enthralling way.’ Tony Robinson
