About this Event
A noir cabaret, an Americana burlesque, a fading starlet’s last chance at the spotlight: Matthew & Meaghan’s MEOW! revisits the documentary classic Grey Gardens through the eyes of Little Edie’s mysterious city life of the 80s. Hosted by a pair of shape-shifting oracles in 50-inch wigs - lip syncs, looks, and lots of razzmatazz create a send-off for America as we know it.

New York-based chanteuses Matthew Antoci and Meaghan Robichaud emcee an evening of desperate glamour. The estate’s been sold, the applause has died, and all’s left is a wannabe starlet in the city of her dreams. Historical baggage collides with queer performance traditions in a series of discontinuous cuts and last-chance grasps for the spotlight. MEOW! is a final farewell to showbiz, to America, to Grey Gardens (and also [secretly] to Meaghan’s deceased transgender cat, Jeffrey Thomas English Muffin Robichaud, to whom the show has been dedicated </3.)
