The evolution of sports nutrition: insights for active living
Join us for Professor Justin Roberts’ Inaugural Professorial lecture in which he will take a look at the evolution of sports nutrition, and how the concept of nutritional physiology has played a key role in advancing physical performance. Along this journey, Professor Roberts will share insights from his own research supporting mainstream sports nutrition brands.

With so much current interest in the importance of active living and longevity, Justin will also consider the overlap between sports nutrition and healthy aging. The very nutritional aspects many athletes consider to be routine or part of their training or performance strategy might equally have validity for older individuals to live a functionally healthy life.

From carbohydrates to proteins, from creatine to green tea, the lessons we can learn from sports nutrition may have valuable insights for everyone. At the end of the journey, Professor Roberts will take a glimpse into the future to consider where the area of nutritional physiology for functional health is going.
