Yin yoga
Yin yoga is a mindful, slow-paced style of yoga in which lying and seated poses are passively held for 3-5 minutes. Long-held poses help to overcome restrictions in the fascia and connective tissues, significantly improving the range of motion. The purpose is to harmonise the flow of chi in the fascial channels and acupuncture meridians in the body.
Stillness
This 3-hour class offers deep stretching that enables the nervous system to switch into the rest and digest mode and the mind to become fully immersed in the present moment. The practise begins with a calming guided meditation with a focus on the breath and the physical sensations in the body. From there the teacher will guide you through a 2,5-hour long silent yin sequence as she demonstrates the poses and stay in perfect silence for the whole duration of the pose, reducing sensory stimulation to minimum. There will be little to no explanation about asanas, chakras or meridians. The teacher will walk around to adjust, or if you need any kind of assistance you can simply raise your hand.
There will be Tibetan healing sounds playing in the background, which are electromagnetic frequencies to increase brain power to help you find inner peace and relaxation. This inner journey is an embodied spiritual practice that invites you to enjoy nourishing forward bends, supported backbends and restorative twists before transitioning into a long, silent relaxation.
Requirements
This class is taught in Dutch, English or both, depending on the group participants. Anyone is welcome to attend, although it’s recommended for the participant to have some Yin yoga experience. Teacher
Lindsay Tromp is a RYT-300 with Yoga Alliance. In 2019, Lindsay completed a Hatha Yoga Teacher Training on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. After that, Lindsay studied Yin under the guidance of Esther Scheen from Pure Energy Yoga. Nowadays, Lindsay teaches both Yin and Yin-Yang classes.
