An eyewitness account of the non-violent student protests at Columbia University in April 2024. The students were protesting their university's ties to the war in Gaza and were demanding that the university cease its investments in Israel and issue a call to end “the genocide in Gaza.”. Their actions sparked encampments in more than 100 campuses across the US and Canada. Themes of free speech, media bias and the right to protest are explored.
